Melanie Fallon-Houska is Director, Corporate Giving at Penguin Random House, the world's largest trade book publisher, comprised of nearly 250 imprints and publishing brands on five continents. Melanie oversees the company’s U.S. corporate charitable contributions and in-kind donations, including its matching gifts program and Penguin Random House Foundation projects. A champion of freedom of expression and the creative process, she is passionate about and immersive in working with young writers and educators. This year, she celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Penguin Random House Creative Writing Awards under her leadership. The program has bestowed more than $2.5 million in college scholarships to New York City Public High Schools students. Prior to Penguin Random House, Melanie worked for the Bertelsmann Foundation and BMG Music, having begun her career at the legendary Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia after graduating from Temple University with a degree in Business Administration and minor in vocal performance. She also sits on the board of advisors for the New York City non-profit Behind the Book. Melanie lives with her husband and two teenage children Ian and Casey in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
